Activities Plan

Lake Manyara National Park’s walking safari takes you through tropical forests and acacia woodlands via various natural hiking trails. Lake Manyara National Park is different from most national parks, as it is partly covered by a tropical forest that leads to acacia woodlands and a vast lake. This lake is shallow and alkaline and covers two-thirds of the park’s surface area. You can find hippos cooling down here and, in certain parts of the year, a pink glow of huge flocks of flamingos and pelicans that covers the water’s surface. During this walking safari, you visit areas with a high concentration of wildlife and come across the different types of vegetation of this park. Animals you might encounter are monkeys, zebras, flamingos, gazelles, giraffes, elephants, many different species of birds and more. A guide and an armed ranger lead the way and ensure your safety. Going by foot through this park is a unique experience, as it allows you to explore the wilderness and get close to nature in ways not possible by car. Please note that the minimum age for walking safari is 12 years.
